The Denominator!!!

We have learnt that the bottom number in a fraction is called the denominator and it tells us how many equal parts we have.

The numerator tells us how many of those equal parts we have.

In Room 5 this week we have been learning all about fractions.

We are learning to recognise half, quarter, thirds, fifths and tenths.

KELSYN IS 6!

Yesterday was Kelsyn's sixth birthday.

Her Mummy made us cupcakes and we had popcorn and biscuits.

Thanks Kelsyn and we hope you had a wonderful birthday.

Autumn

Autumn and Winter are nearly upon us and in Room 5 we wrote poems about Autumn.  This is the one we wrote together:

All the leaves change colour

Under the trees

Trees are colourful

Up they blow

Make you feel cold

No more leaves on the trees.

We then did some art with Autumn leaves to display our poems.  Come in any time and read our great work.

Room 5 and Rangikura school have the most talented beautiful singers.

UNIHOC ROCKS!!!!

Some of our Year 1 and 2 children started Unihoc this term and we had so much fun.

We can't wait until next week.

Apirana Taylor shared his stories with us.

We were so lucky to have Apirana Taylor come and share his stories with us this week.  We loved the story about the centipede.

WE"RE BAAAAAAAAACK!!!

Term 2 has started with a bang and the children seem to be very happy to be back at school.  I am certainly glad to see them all again.  I am hoping to see you all next week during the parent/teacher interviews.  

Just a few changes this term as we start our spelling programme.

Please check in the back of their homework book for a notice about the spelling programme and their first words to learn for their test next Friday.

We visited the library today and loved sharing books with our friends.

Straight back into the swing of things - working hard during writing time.
